PRELIMINARY
DISCOVERY ENGINE ECView Pro can find "up" devices in the network. It uses SNMP v1/v2c/v3
and WMI to communicate with different type of devices. ECView Pro
supports Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP), Link Layer Discovery Protocol
(LLDP), Foundry Discovery Protocol (FDP), Extreme Discovery Protocol
(EDP), and Nortel Discovery Protocol (NDP) to generate the topology of the
network.
ECView Pro also has built-in discovery support for non-SNMP devices as
well as non-managed devices. Support for Windows Management
Instrumentation (WMI) also allows computers running Windows operating
systems to be discovered. You can also add devices using Manual
Discovery.
MAPPING The ECView Pro Discovery Engine continuously and accurately gathers real-
time information and status of each discovered device. The mapping
feature includes a variety of useful actions that facilitate in managing the
discovered devices. There are five types of map layouts; Orthogonal,
Organic, Hierarchical, Circular, and Edge Router.
